Your out-of-town guests and those who don’t want to drive home after the wedding reception will appreciate the kind gesture of helping them find a hotel room for the night. You can begin by looking for hotel rooms in the area near the reception site or your house if you plan to meet with the guests during the rehearsal or on the wedding day morning.
Once you have identified the hotel, you will need to know how to negotiate a block of rooms. Start by looking at your guest list to estimate how many hotel rooms will be needed. Consider the members of your wedding party, your out-of-town guests and yourselves. If you need 10 or more hotel rooms, you may benefit from preferred pricing. Try reserving the hotel rooms for as long as possible without having to leave a deposit. Request that the payments be made individually by the guests when they call the hotel to book a room with their credit card.
Once you have reserved your block of hotel rooms, you can send the information by inserting a lodging information card in your invitations. You can also include directions from the hotel to the ceremony and the reception and then back to the hotel.
Leave a little gift basket or other welcome gift for each guest to find when they arrive at their hotel rooms. This makes a nice welcome that will put a smile on their faces and be sure to impress.
